Polycarbonate (PC)
Polycarbonate is a thermoplastic, similar to PMMA and acrylic, but with a higher impact resistance. It can also resist extreme temperatures for a longer time. This means that PC can undergo larger plastic deformations, without cracking or breaking, than other thermoplastics can.
Polycarbonate is transformed with multiple techniques, the main being extrusion and injection moulding at temperatures between 250 and 330°C. Being a thermoplastic, PC can be melted and reshaped repeatedly without it losing its properties. This allows it to be a very versatile material, which can be used for many different kinds of products.
Some Different Uses of Polycarbonate
Polycarbonate is a very versatile material used for a wide range of applications. One of the traits that makes polycarbonate increasingly popular is that it is transparent and UV- and impact-resistant.
